Prague first. Then the rest.
Which castle ticket actually skips the queue. Whether the dinner cruise is worth the dinner. How far Kutna Hora really is. Every bookable day in Czechia, reviewed.
The days a Prague trip gets built around.
The castle hill, the Vltava at dusk, the six synagogues of Josefov, the cellars two metres under the Old Town, a concert in a baroque church, and the beer that started all of it.
What everyone books between the castle and the bridge.

The lager the world copied was brewed in Pilsen.
Golden pilsner was poured for the first time in Plzen in 1842, an hour west of Prague, and Czechia has out-drunk every other country on earth per head ever since. The cellar tours, the Prague tap rooms and the beer baths all descend from that one brewery.
What a day in Czechia actually costs.
Every tour on the site by price. Prague is one of the cheaper capitals in Europe to have a very good day in, and the numbers show it.
Tower climbs, entry tickets, the short river loops and a pub crawl with the beer already paid for.
Guided walks with admission, the brewery days, dinner on the water and the standard Kutna Hora run.
Prague Castle is a district, not a building.
St Vitus, the Old Royal Palace, Golden Lane and the Lobkowicz rooms all sit inside one set of gates, and the ticket you buy decides how much of it you get through. A guide adds the part no map carries: who lived where, and who went out of which window.
Three things Czechia does that nowhere else bothers with.
Baroque squares and river views are Central European standard issue. Bathing in beer, theatre performed by people you cannot see, and a chapel furnished with skeletons are not.

The Beer Bath
A wooden tub of warm water, hops and brewer’s yeast, a private tap at your elbow and half an hour to sit there. Czechia treats beer as a bathing mineral the way Karlovy Vary treats its springs, and the spas around Prague run sessions from mid-morning to late evening. You come out smelling faintly of fresh bread.

Black Light Theatre
Prague built an entire art form out of a blacked-out room, ultraviolet light and performers dressed head to toe in black so the audience never sees them. Objects fly, bodies come apart, nobody says a word. Jiri Srnec started it here in 1961 and several stages still run it nightly. It needs no language, which is why it lasted.

The Old Town Cellars
After the medieval floods Prague raised its streets by several metres, so the ground floors of the Old Town became cellars and stayed there. Tours drop into the vaults under the square, where the stonework is older than everything standing on top of it and the legends are told in the rooms that earned them.

The day-trip ring around Prague.
All day trips from Prague →Almost everything worth leaving Prague for sits inside a two-hour drive, which is why nearly all of it is sold as a single day: the bone chapel at Sedlec, a spa colonnade, the original brewery, sandstone gorges on the German border, and the memorial at Terezin.
Prague does not really do early nights.

Most of Prague can be arranged from the hotel the night before. These four cannot: they run on fixed departures, small capacities and seasons that pay no attention to when your flight gets in.
- 01Bernard Beer Spa with Beer and Massage OptionA handful of tubs per session, booked by the half hour. Evening slots go first.
- 02Pilsner Urquell Experience & Beer TastingThe brewery runs to a timetable and the cellar tasting is capped at the group size.
- 03Entry Ticket Classical Concert at the Mirror ChapelSmall halls with a fixed seat count. The good nights are gone days ahead.
- 04Bohemian & Saxon Switzerland Iconic Day TripA seasonal trip: parts of the gorge route only run from spring to autumn.
When Bohemia turns grey, go underground or go and sit down.
Rain here arrives sideways and settles in for the afternoon. Every good answer is indoors and most of them are older than the weather: the vaults under the Old Town, a church built for the acoustics, a museum floor, or half an hour in a warm tub of beer.
